Mid-Prairie Home School Assistance Program
Mid-Prairie's Home School Assistance Program has been serving home schooling families since the fall of 1997. The Mid-Prairie school system acknowledges parent's rights and competency to design and execute their children's education independently.
Our mission is to provide support, resources, and assistance to parents as primary teachers in their endeavor to achieve quality home education.
Local church leaders in the early-mid 1940's saw the need for a Mennonite high school. Using donated land from an area farmer, the campus was formed. Classes were held for the first time in the fall of 1945. In the decades which followed, Iowa Mennonite School slowly built a tradition-a tradition of caring for students and faculty alike; a tradition of providing a strong Christian education for high school students.
IMS is a school with a mission-and that mission is to prepare all students for a life of service to others. With a teacher-student ratio of approximately 1:13, students at Iowa Mennonite School experience that "personal" feeling. One-on-one relationships with teachers are not at all uncommon; nor is it unusual to see seniors and freshmen mingling with one another. It is perhaps in that setting that the student learns most, for it is then that personal growth occurs.
At Iowa Mennonite School a student can grow academically, socially, mentally, and above all, spiritually. Quality programming abounds in every area of life at IMS Class averages over the past nine years have ranked at the 96th percentile nationally on the Iowa Test of Educational Development (ITED) with the most frequent rankings at the 99th percentile. Approximately 80-85 percent of IMS graduates receive post-high school education or training. And one will find the atmosphere at IMS conducive to learning, where the faculty strive to help each individual student.
